marion central school district accepted into the league of innovative schools
we are pleased to announce that the winner of last year’s pl summit award for “small district, big beta” has continued to impress on the national stage. marion central school district, a small, rural district located outside of rochester, ny, was accepted along with 12 other districts into the league of innovative schools.
the league of innovative schools “connects and rallies the most forward-thinking leaders of the nation’s school districts.” superintendent don bavis was recently interviewed by the local news and shared how he thinks about innovation: "you implement, then you reflect on your success, and then you iterate or improve. you're in a constant cycle of reflection and iteration. if you're not doing that, you're not being innovative," said bavis. we at 瑞士vs喀麦隆亚盘赔率
are proud of the marion staff and students on their accomplishment and encourage other districts to apply in the future.

rogers lane elementary school
in january 2017, 瑞士vs喀麦隆亚盘赔率
began work on a brand new school with the wake county public school system in north carolina: rogers lane elementary school. with increasing enrollment driving the need for new schools, district leaders at wake county wanted to start a school that would take a fresh approach to teaching and learning. rogers lane opened its doors in september, 2017 after intensive design work with 瑞士vs喀麦隆亚盘赔率

worked with school and district leaders to help determine the instructional vision for the school and determine the staffing and scheduling decisions that would need to be made to help meet that vision. at a key juncture of the work ed elements led a workshop on visual cues for design - essentially, what would students, parents, teachers, and other staff see at rogers lane that would signify a fresh approach to learning? a “day in the life of” primer was created to help stakeholders understand how the school day would be organized.
with 800+ students enrolled, rogers lane is now operating with a personalized approach to education that features small group instruction, expeditionary learning experiences, and a technology-rich environment.

six examples of what personalized learning looks like
each year we receive hundreds of questions along the lines of, “okay…so what does personalized learning actually look like?”
we have a few answers to this question. one is that personalized learning always involves these core four elements - targeted instruction, data-driven decisions, flexible content, and student reflection and ownership. check out ourcore four white paperfor a more detailed description of these elements, as well as classroom examples.
critical questions to ask when building a life-changing curriculum process
yes, i said it in my title. life-changing. am i exaggerating? maybe a little. but as a former teacher, i met too many students who “hated (insert any subject here)” because they thought their textbook, worksheet, or homework material was boring, too difficult, or did not make sense to them. i also met too many fellow teachers who thought their curriculum was simply their textbooks (which they often didn’t like), and no more.
for these students and teachers, learning and teaching was not a fun experience because their “curriculum” was horrible. think about turning these people around and instilling joy in them through the right curriculum. oh the things they will learn and teach! isn’t that a life-changing possibility?
